2023 Grüner Veltliner

The fruit for this wine was hand harvested September 4th at Pipe Dreams Vineyard in Oliver, BC.

Due to an extended cold spell during the winter of 2022, the vines suffered structurally resulting in lower number of fruitful buds and an overall lower yield. In contrast higher than average temperatures during the growing season ripened the fruit under full canopy in a short period, achieving ripeness with harvest three weeks earlier than expected! The resulting juice pressed in at 20.8 brix.

Fermentation under cultured yeast took place in stainless and then the wine was finished in neutral barrels with naturally occurring malolactic conversion, which increased the wine’s texture and mouthfeel.

This sumptuous wine is quite round on the palate with big expressions of ripe fruit.
